Commercial Corridor Revitalization

Every Commercial Corridor needs a champion. In 2006, I joined the SF Office of Economic and Workforce Development to execute a commercial corridor revitalization program. Divisadero Street, with 14 vacancies in six blocks, speeding traffic, graffiti and criminal activity, was a commercial corridor full of potential.

I led the project, and coordinated merchants and neighbors to establish the Divisadero Merchants Association to provide local businesses with a collective presence and advocacy. I recruited a local agency to start the Divisadero Farmers Market, which then led to San Francisco's first parklet and the Divisadero ArtWalk.

Today, the Divisadero Corridor is one of San Francisco's hottest and most desirable neighborhoods of hip restaurants, entertainment, retail - bringing people and building community on our commercial corridors.
